Loyola High School Alumni: The Enduring Foundation

loyoladarsys 0

Loyola High School alumni, affectionately known as "Loyolights," form the vital backbone that sustains and elevates the institution. Since the school's founding in 1995 by the Jesuits in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, over 7,000 graduates have carried forward the Jesuit values of academic excellence, leadership, social justice, and service to others.

These alumni remain deeply connected through the active Loyola High School Alumni Association, which fosters lifelong bonds, organizes events like the Annual Alumni Career Day (where accomplished graduates mentor current students), reunions, and networking opportunities. The association promotes the school's mission, encourages mentorship, and supports initiatives that benefit current students—ensuring the spirit of "Once a Loyolight, always a Loyolight" lives on.

Many alumni excel in diverse fields across Tanzania and internationally, from engineering and business to public service and academia. Graduates have secured scholarships to prestigious universities like Fairfield University in the U.S., contributing to Tanzania's development while crediting Loyola's holistic formation for their success. Their achievements—reflected in strong national exam performances, global placements, and community impact—highlight the school's lasting influence.

Alumni give back generously, supporting scholarships for low-income and orphaned students, volunteering, and helping maintain the school's facilities and programs. As the school celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2025, alumni testimonials underscored their role in keeping Loyola afloat through donations, advocacy, and inspiration.

In essence, Loyola's alumni are more than graduates—they are the living legacy, ensuring the school continues to nurture "men and women for others" for generations to come.

God bless Loyola High School!
