Loyola Girls’ Day 2025
On the morning of Loyola Girls’ Day, January 25, 2025, the atmosphere at the school was filled with excitement and anticipation. The students gathered in Plamondon Hall, the auditorium, where they received a warm welcome from Headmaster Fr. Joseph Afulo, SJ. He spoke passionately about the importance of compassion and service, encouraging the girls to embrace the day’s activities with open hearts and minds.
Following his speech, an invited alumna shared his experiences, emphasizing how acts of kindness and connection can create meaningful change in the community. His words resonated deeply, inspiring the girls as they prepared for their outreach efforts.
The highlight of the day was the visit to the local juvenile prison in Upanga. Upon arrival, the girls experienced a mix of emotions—nervousness and excitement—as they were greeted by the staff. They presented desks and essential items they had collected, which sparked smiles among the young residents. The girls engaged in conversations with the prison community, learning about their lives and sharing their own experiences, creating a powerful bond of understanding.
After returning to the school, the students participated in a lively day program. They showcased their talents through songs, creative arts, and dances, celebrating the solidarity and resilience they felt throughout the day. The performances were filled with energy and passion, highlighting the spirit of sisterhood that defined Loyola.
The day concluded with a communal lunch, where the girls reflected on their experiences, sharing laughs and insights. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and camaraderie as they deepened their connections with one another.
Loyola Girls’ Day 2025 was a remarkable event that not only fostered a sense of community and purpose among the girls but also left a lasting impact on the lives of those they reached out to.
