Holy Spirit Mass/Opening Assembly
On January 17, 2025, the Loyola High School community gathered for a significant occasion: the Holy Spirit Mass and the Opening Assembly, which marks the beginning of a new academic year. Presided over by the Headmaster, Fr. Joseph Oduor Afulo, SJ, and co-celebrated by Fr Fidelis Udahemuka, SJ, the ceremony blended spirituality and a sense of unity, reflecting the values instilled in the students and faculty alike.
The atmosphere was filled with anticipation and hope as students, teachers, and school administration members congregated in the school chapel. The Mass began with uplifting hymns in the form of threes that resonated through the chapel, setting a tone of reverence and reflection. Fr. Afulo, known for his engaging sermons, delivered an inspiring homily that focused on community, resilience, and the importance of living out one’s faith. He emphasized the role of the Holy Spirit in guiding individuals, particularly students, to discover their strengths and purpose as they embark on a new academic journey.
The headmaster began with a warm welcome and spoke about the exciting opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. He encouraged students to enthusiastically embrace their studies, reminding them of the school’s commitment to fostering a supportive and enriching environment.
The event concluded with a collective prayer, invoking blessings upon the school year and its endeavors. Everyone carried with them a renewed sense of purpose and a commitment to uphold the values of faith, academic excellence, and community service that define Loyola High School.
